New Orleans: Magazine Street
When we started planning our trip to New Orleans, we reserved an Airbnb on Magazine Street. As we found restaurants and things to do, so many addresses also said Magazine Street. I remember saying, “Wow, that must be right next to our Airbnb” at least half a dozen times as we looked things up. Well, it turns out that Magazine Street is six miles of restaurants, antique stores, boutiques, and cafes!! So many of the things we thought were close to us were actually a couple miles away. It was great staying so close to so many different shops!
Although we went to cafes and restaurants on Magazine Street several times throughout our stay, we dedicated our final afternoon in New Orleans to just wander around and window shop.
Favorite restaurants -
Dat Dog - hot dogs with unlimited toppings (several vegan hot dogs!)
Deanie’s Seafood Kitchen - some of the best seafood!!
District Donuts - huge donuts (gluten free option as well)
Pho Kim Ly - delicious Vietnamese food
Ruby Slipper Cafe - we didn’t end up going but we got several recommendations for this place!
Favorite cafes -
French Truck Coffee - there are two locations on Magazine Street, but we went to 2917 Magazine.
CR Coffee Shop - Nick’s favorite coffee of the trip!
Interesting shops -
On one block there were literally 5 different bridal boutiques, which would be great if you’re wedding shopping!
Garden District Marketplace - local creatives selling handmade soaps, art, and prints.
White’s Mercantile- we went to one in Nashville and had no idea there were other locations! We love all the cozy home decor!
DNO - super hip store with a lot of cool New Orleans souvenirs (definitely would have bought from here if we had room in our bags!)
If you’re in New Orleans, definitely check out Magazine Street. Some stores were a little busy but it wasn’t really crowded, even on the weekend. So many unique stores! We loved seeing so many people supporting local businesses.
